Synopsis:

Overcoming Barriers to Agile Adoption

“Standing up” a couple of Agile teams with Scrum, XP, or Kanban is relatively straightforward. After a few months, or when trying to add even more teams, organizations start to run into obstacles to Agile adoption that are beyond the ability of the individual teams to address. The root cause of these obstacles is that organizations have been purpose-built to support and reinforce traditional methodologies while unintentionally impeding and discouraging the use of Agile.

This presentation will review how organizations need to have specific adoption goals, a way to assess progress, and an approach for identifying and addressing obstacles as they arise. It will introduce the criteria used to help set and assess goals and the Kotter Change Model to complement the existing problem finding and solving tools found in Scrum and other methodologies.
