Synopsis:

Measuring System Security

Vast amounts of money have been directed toward cybersecurity solutions -- yet there is no theoretically proven method of deciding what those funds should be spent on, and no new paradigms have evolved to guide management decisions toward practical security solutions.
This talk surveys the state of the art in system security engineering and suggests a paradigm shift in security metrics that may more effectively address decision-maker security concerns.

Synopsis:

Small Agile Steps, Big Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) Impact

Software development has changed dramatically over the last decade with the Agile movement, the emergence of the Cloud and new suites of tools. Along the way many development managers and team leads have been left behind. As the market is demonstrating returns on these initiatives, CxOs expect these changes to be implemented, yet some development teams struggle with prioritization, practice details and how to get started. Project implementation -- which requires the definition of roles, priorities, goals and processes -- becomes a bottleneck for Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) adoption. So the objective is to enhance ALM practices in small increments and to improve people, selective processes and tools.

This presentation will be about enhancing ALM practices in small increments with the end goal of big ALM impact and showing how a tool called InCycle BluePrint accomplishes this by integrating with Microsoft Visual Studio and using a turnkey Microsoft Team Foundation System (TFS) template, allowing cross-functional teams to work on the same tool and establish a common vision, ultimately assuring a better result for ALM adoption.
Biography - Claude Remillard

Claude Remillard is President and co-founder of InCycle Software - a leading firm providing ALM consulting services for .NET development teams. He is a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) and his primary area of evangelism is release management and the adoption of best practices in software development lifecycle management. Over the last two decades, Mr. Remillard has held different executive positions in the software and technology market. This includes the position of President of Acceleron, a software company that developed and marketed an expense management solution with close to half a million licenses sold worldwide.
