Synopsis:

Beautiful Teams

What's it like to work on a great software development team facing an impossible problem? How do you build an effective team? Can a group of people who don't get along still build good software? How does a team leader keep everyone moving on track when the stakes are high and the schedule is tight?

Andrew Stellman and Jennifer Greene answer these questions in their 2009 book, Beautiful Teams: Inspiring and Cautionary Tales from Veteran Team Leaders. In this presentation, they show how veteran team leaders build great teams by understanding people, goals, practices and obstacles. They draw on personal stories from the leading programmers, architects, project managers and thought leaders who contributed to the book.

Biography - Jennifer Greene & Andrew Stellman

Jennifer Greene and Andrew Stellman have been managing projects and writing about project management together since they first met in 1998. Their first book, Applied Software Project Management was published by O’Reilly in 2005 and received widespread praise from both working project managers and academic researchers. Their second book, Head First PMP, which is now in its second edition, has helped tens of thousands of project managers pass the PMP exam. Andrew and Jennifer founded Stellman & Greene Consulting in 2003, providing project management services and training to both companies and individuals, and have given talks at companies and conferences around the world.
