Synopsis:
Testing:
The Journey from Ad Hoc to a Center of Excellence
What happens when the company that has engaged you as some kind of process expert has no clue how to test its applications & systems consistently or thoroughly? Where do you start? Where do you lead them, with what best practices, tools, technologies? This will be a little personal journey through this rocky landscape, with guideposts, and, hopefully, some helpful tips and tools.

1st decade: Programmer, software & systems architect (ICL [UK], Digital Equipment Corp [US]) - specialties: language assemblers; operating systems.
2nd. decade: project manager, development manager, QA & Release Manager (Operating Systems, all).
3rd decade: software process & technology lead for DEC.
4th decade: went to the 'dark side' - software quality & process lead for JPMorgan, then BofA, business process re-engineering (Six Sigma).
5th decade: good God, enough already - finally reached a state of 'bliss': independent, freelance consultant at CIT - messing in everything from designing their testing process, helping re-design the whole SDLC, Project & Portfolio Management tool implementation, Agile implementation...way too much fun!
