Synopsis:

Virtual Scrum

When we hear about the benefits of Scrum, the team is often co-located. What happens when they are not? People work from home. Hurricane Sandy happens. A team member lives in another city. This presentation will address some approaches for continuing Scrum effectively with a team that isn't co-located. From how to deal with sprint planning to running an inclusive retrospective, attendees will walk away with techniques they can apply for using Scrum with virtual team members. This presentation will also cover how all team members can work more effectively with remote developers. They might even be able to improve non-Scrum meetings too.

 Biography:

Jeanne Boyarsky and Janeice DelVecchio have worked together both remotely and in person on a development team at their day jobs and as volunteers on coderanch.com. This gives them exposure to both large and small projects. Jeanne also serves as a part time ScrumMaster to the team. She also wrote her first book this year (OCA: Oracle Certified Associate Java SE 8 Programmer I Study Guide). Janeice telecommutes full time.
