Synopsis:

Agile Business Analyst as Product Owner

Many companies strive to incorporate agile methodology in their existing conventional methodologies. Having well-defined  product ownership, small and mid-size companies have, historically, been  much more successful in cultivating good product ownership. Larger companies, with multiple hierarchical layers, independent business verticals, and wide global distribution have faced numerous challenges in providing the necessary support to product owners.

The role of a business analyst at large companies has always been well defined. The skill set, subject matter expertise and in-depth understanding of what the business needs make a seasoned business analyst a great candidate for the role of product owner. The biggest challenge that business analysts are presented with to effectively fulfill the role of product owner is lack of empowerment.
