Synopsis:

Top 10 Obstacles to Project Success

Top 10 Obstacles to Project Success is based on a global survey run by MuTo Performance Corp. every year.   During the presentation, Lou will discuss the Top 10 Obstacles based on the survey data. The findings are useful to Project Managers, Program Managers, and Senior I.T. Leadership who wish to understand the nature of the most  common project obstacles.

The audience's experiences are often the foundation of discussion around each of the obstacles.

Overall, the presentation is humorous (in a Dilbert sort of way), yet educational and enlightening.  Many of the obstacles seem obvious, until we uncover what root causes lie beneath them. Audience members walk away with plenty of thought provoking ideas for solutions to their existing obstacles, and new perspectives on how to tackle new ones.

Synopsis:

We Need It Before The End Of The Year:
What’s Your Estimate?

No matter what your position on a project you must be a good estimator of your work, and it is a cardinal sin to let good estimates by smart people get overwhelmed by the strong desires of powerful people. Accurate estimates are the foundation of all critical project decisions regarding staffing, functionality, delivery date, and budget. How do we accurately estimate in a world where tradition declares that the deadline is set before the requirements are even known?

Tim will offer practical advice on dealing with this thorny issue. He will present strategies and tactics for project estimating and will describe his favorite estimating metric, the Estimating Quality Factor (EQF). By thinking that goals are important and so are good estimates, you will be on the road to better quality and better projects.
